KIY: Kpop Necklace DIY

I’ve been on a roll with DIYs lately and just decided to do another fairly easy one.

Materials:

  • Coin/Badge
  • Clear Tape
  • Scissors
  • Picture
  • Glue/Mod Podge
  • Hot Glue Gun/E6000
  • Necklace Chain
  • Jump Rings (one for each pendant)

Directions:

  1. Find a pin or a coin that you wouldn’t miss. Measure it and print out a picture that would fit on it. (If your picture is too big, bend it so it shows up like how you would like your pendant to look.)
  2.  Get out some type of glue (a light glue like stick glue or mod podge) and glue your picture in place.
  3. Let your pendant dry if you have to, and then cut off any excess paper that hangs off of your pendant.
  4. Get some clear tape, and put it over your pendant. This will make it shiny and give it extra protection from things like water and also keep your picture in place.
  5. Cut off excess tape, but leave a small amount around the rim.
  6. Bend back the tape you left behind, this will help keep your picture in place.
  7. Get out some jump rings. If they’re big, leave them be, but if they’re small open them up.
  8. Using a glue gun or E6000/Goop (I recommend E6000/Goop), put some glue on the top back of your pendant and glue on your jump ring. If you opened yours, make sure the open part is facing up.
  9. Get out your chain. Slide the chain into the jump ring to attach the pendant.
  10. Now, close your jump ring if you have to. (In the video I used a nail cutter, but you could break a nail cutter doing that fyi.)

blackface pic for blog

We’ve been through it before, but we hoped it wouldn’t rear its ugly head again. While its unfortunate that it has returned, we’re just happy that we’re here to address it this time while its still a hot topic. Maybe, just maybe, this will be the first and last time we ever have to confront this. What are we talking about? Blackface in Korea.

Just recently, MC Jun Hyun Moo thought it would be a great idea to dress up as Sam Otswiri (or better known as, Sam Ochiri)in Blackface if his show hits 3% in viewer ratings. Although it was only a suggestion that has not yet been put into action, it has caused a disturbance amongst netizens as to whether it is acceptable, or rather why it really isn’t. While some blame the journalist’s prejudicial view on the premise that this act is racist, we can confidently say…

KIY: K-Pop Box Decor

I just got a new box for my crafting stuff, and I thought I’d decorate it a bit. So if you have anything in mind that you want to decorate, here you go! Materials:

  • Some picture that you want on your box.
  • Rubber cement, or some kind of glue.
  • Clear Tape
  • **Stickers and/or Decorative Tape that you can use to fill in for any open spaces you have left after putting in your pictures.

Directions:

  1. Get out your pictures and your box that you want to decorate. Place the picture on the box in a design that you like (I did mine collage style).
  2. Get out your glue/rubber cement and use a little bit just to keep your pictures in place.
  3. Get out your clear tape and start taping over the pictures to seal them in. Make sure you let a little tape stick to the side of your box, so everything is kept in place.

KIY: Customized Keychains

So here I am with another Kpop diy and I actually made a video for this one, albeit it’s super long… But yeah. Here’s some step-by-step instructions on how to make some super cheap Kpop keychains~

Materials:

  • Rectangular Keychain ID Tags. Mine were super cheap, I got them at the 99¢.
  • Printer
  • Printer paper

Yep, that’s all you need.

Instuctions:

  1. Measure the perimeter of the inside space (where the picture goes) of your keychain.
  2.  Open up a Word document and input a rectangular shape, make it’s height and width measures match your keychain.
  3. Insert picture into the rectangle by double clicking on it, going to “fill”, “fill efects”, “picture or texture”, then choose your picture and hit OK.
  4. Print out your pictures and add them to your keychains!

Here is the video, which has step by step instructions in detail. I suggest you watch it via YouTube, because there is a skip guide in the description.

KIY – Kpop Phone Cases

This is going to be the first post into my new segment(?) KIY (Kpop-It-Yourself). So recently, I got a new phone! Thank the good lord my old one was so messed up lol. Anyway, I have a really nice Kris case a friend gifted me that I can no longer use! So, I found a solution.

Materials Needed:

  • Computer
  • Printer
  • Clear Phone Case
  • Ruler
  • Scissors
  • Card-stock (you can use regular paper, but card-stock would be  sturdier.)
  • Hole Puncher

Directions:

  1. Select the rectangle with the rounded edges. It should look like this (and it will say “rounded rectangle” when you hover over it.):                                                                                         Screen Shot 2014-06-24 at 1.46.42 PM
  2. Now, click on your page to insert the shape.
  3. Double click on the shape.
  4. Go to the “format” tab.                                                                                                                                                                                                      Screen Shot 2014-06-24 at 1.47.11 PM
  5. Go to “size” at the far right of your screen and enter the length and width of your phone case.                                 Screen Shot 2014-06-24 at 1.47.46 PM                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               Your shape should look similar to this(depending on your phone):                                                                                               Screen Shot 2014-06-24 at 1.48.51 PM
  6. Save the word document!!! Then, print this, cut it out, and see if it fits your phone case. If it doesn’t, adjust the measurements accordingly.
  7. Highlight the shape and then press command+c/cntrl+c. After, press command+v/cntrl+v and paste it until the whole document is covered.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        Now we are going to insert our picture!!! Almost done!
  8. Now, you want to double click on that shape go to the fill option.                                                                                                  Screen Shot 2014-07-01 at 4.33.27 PM                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                You want to choose the “Fill Effects” option.
  9. You should be taken to a page that looks somewhat like this:                                                     Screen Shot 2014-07-01 at 4.37.39 PM
  10. You should now go to the “Picture or Texture” tab.                                                                            Screen Shot 2014-07-01 at 4.43.11 PM
  11. Click “Choose Picture”. Choose your picture, and then press “OK”.
  12. Now print and cut out, now you have interchangeable case slips! (Note, you don’t have to go through this whole process again to make a new one, just copy and paste, then you can change the picture from the fill!)

These are the ones I made, I haven’t actually gotten a clear case yet, but I can’t wait until I do!
